I was nominated by Debra Garner on her blog, Addicted to Sock Knitting. I am to answer four questions then nominate others!
Question 1: What am I working on?
Right now I am working on my Stripes Gone Crazy Cardigan. I am just putting the finishing touches on it and feverishly planning my next project as I do!
Question 2: How does my work differ from others of its genre?
My work, in reference to yarn dyeing, differs in a manner of colours. I originally could not find any retina searing colours in yarns that I liked. I just wanted normal yarn, not art yarn, in really bright colours. If you have read this blog for any matter of time you probably realize I don’t do subtle and understated things… ever.
Question 3: Why do I create what I do?
I am not a fan of people thinking that knitting is something older ladies do and if you’re knitting, you’re obviously an ancient specimen… or just strange. With yarn that is this bright and colourful, it really gives a sign that this is not your grandmothers knitting. When people see the things I’ve made with my yarn, the colour draws them in. Then they ask questions about who made it etc. I have gotten quite a few people to start knitting simply by showing them how interesting it is to make your own garments.
Question 4: How does my creative process work?
With dyeing yarn, I take all the colours I wish I could find and make them. Anytime I am at a yarn store and think a colour is great, if only it were a little brighter or more blue I take note. I can’t be the only one who thinks these things. Especially with socks; knitting socks is an excellent tester into my colours. They’re not for the faint of heart!
