Easter in Niagara

As you have probably gathered, I spent the Easter long weekend in Niagara Falls with my family. Every now and again we like to get together somewhere more fun than our houses to spend time together. It was a pretty good time too.

Since Niagara Falls is so close to the US boarder, there are a few restaurants around there that aren’t regularly in Canada. The Outback Steakhouse is one of them. I remember in university there was one in Ancaster and I LOVED going with my friends. It was one of my favourite places to eat, but eventually the economy forced it to close. I ended up talking my family into going to one while we were in the falls and it was sooooo good. The soup of the day was potato cheddar and bacon; I swear this was the best soup I’ve ever had in my life. I am having a hard time not driving back right now and demanding more soup!

Apparently the Outback’s in the USA are much better than the one in the falls so I will have to make a note to try one while I am there sometime. I wonder if there is one near downtown Chicago? I’ll have to check it out and see what I can find!

We also checked out the outlet mall, on this side of the boarder, and found out that there had been a Lulu Lemon outlet opened there. That is very exciting for me, so we went and checked it out. I managed to talk Paul into shopping for himself and he made his first purchase at Lulu Lemon. Well the first one that wasn’t for me anyway.

Those were pretty much the highlights of our food and shopping experiences. We did run down to the falls before we left because, well… let’s be honest, you don’t go to the falls without seeing the major attraction.

My nephew was really excited to see the ‘big water’ but we really more interested in trying to jump into puddles and chasing the seagulls to be honest. Right outside one of the tourist centers, there was a whole whack of seagulls begging for fries and popcorn. My mom and I got E-Boy a pretzel and we fed a bit to the birds.

Overall it was a great weekend with lots to do! I slept early every day and didn’t have the usual problems I have falling asleep in hotel rooms. I am not sure if it was because I was extra tired or if it was the soothing voice of the narrator in the audio book I’ve been listening to. Either way I am glad I didn’t need to catch up on my sleep during the week. I am pretty sure that never works out.
